Frankenstein’s creature said “All men hate the wretched; how then, must I be hated, who am miserable beyond all living things! Yet you, my creator, detest and spurn me, thy creature, to whom thou art bound by ties only dissoluble by the annihilation of one of us” (Shelley 81) The fictional story Frankenstein, portrays a supernatural character that is rejected by society because of his ugly appearance. A human is someone who contains the characteristic of a human being pertaining emotions, self-expression, and free will. Some individuals are set apart from society and are considered ‘monsters’ due to their appearance or their abnormalities. He would envy those with families and friends while he had been rejected by society. For instance, Frankenstein’s creature had expressed himself in anger to his creator exclaiming, “Accursed creator! Why did you form a monster so hideous that even you turned from me in disgust … my form is a filthy type of yours, more horrid even from the very resemblance. Satan had his companions … but I am solitary and abhorred” (Shelley 110). Within this, Frankenstein’s creature is expressing his feelings. Revealing that he has similar responses to of a human when showing distress. In addition to feelings, the creature wanted to love. In fact, he longed for it. If Frankenstein’s creature can want this feeling, then he is human. For example, “I demand a creature of another sex, but as hideous as myself; the gratification is small, but it is all that I can receive, and it shall content me. It is true, we shall be monsters, cut off from all the world, but on that account, we shall be more attached to one another” (Shelley 125). The creature desires such an emotion to feel connected to a female similar to his appearance. A monster is something that is unnatural or monstrous though love is natural. The monster that is depicted to be unnatural is feeling an emotion that a human being could feel. The creature has all these feelings combined that allow him to think and how to react to
