Could you ever imagine yourself using a sidewalk for a bed? Most people in America can’t, including the veterans who are now living on the streets. In today’s society, most people on a daily basis think about what they have on their agenda and whatever comes on the daily news. Most things you see on the news are things about Donald Trump, car accidents, and deaths. What you don't see is that American veterans that defended our country with their bodies are lying on the streets in poverty. Almost 1.5 million American Veterans are impoverished according to the National Veterans foundation in 2012 and Americans should help eradicate veteran poverty by having a penny tax to help support them, having pending or standing items, and also require the …show more content…

The tax would go to different places such as a retirement home for veterans or to a program that supports homeless veterans. Suspended Coffee explains what suspended or pending coffee is, “First, you walk into a coffee shop, and instead of buying just one cup of coffee, you buy two or more. You buy one for yourself and one for someone in need. The barista gives you your coffee, then logs the second coffee as “suspended”. The coffee can then be redeemed in a number of ways .”’ This could be a helpful way for veterans to get on their feet by offering free coffee or meals allowing them nutrients and energy. Although instead of just having coffee, people could leave suspended items everywhere.
