Immigration has always played a large part in the American story, whether it was the pilgrims coming over to America striving to build a new society or all of the men and women who landed at Ellis Island looking to make a new life for themselves and their families. Immigration has played a large part in America's past and it still plays an important role in America's present (one of the United States nicknames is the melting pot for a reason). Immigration also plays a part in our culture we have Chinese and Mexican restaurants all around the U.S and there are television and radio station in different languages for people who still speak another language (there is also an increase of foreign stores starting up in the U.S).
