All countries have a backbone which is vital to their success. America's backbone happens to be the class of hard working foreigners who have immigrated to the country. They have contributed to America in the past, still are today, and will continue to do so in the future. Without different walks of life present in society, there is no progress in breaking down cultural barriers and promoting social acceptance of all hard working individuals. In 2012, President Obama saw the potential from the children of foreigners entering the country. As a result, he created the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival bill (DACA) for those children to have temporary relief from deportation, and for them to have the same opportunities as everyone else(4). Consequences that include: “depriving the economy of valued workers; it will lose tax revenue, worsening government finances; and it will waste taxpayer dollars on costly and counterproductive immigration enforcement” (4). That being said, absolutely no good would come out from removing the DACA bill. The current immigration policy is also taking away America’s opportunity of having the best and brightest minds working for it(2). The legal immigration policy needs to be streamlined in order to incentivize legal immigration, while still ensuring that qualified and genuinely good immigrants get first priority in entering the country. This will eliminate the need for further bills like DACA, as a large majority of immigrants will become naturalized properly.
