Marijuana—also known as cannabis— was illegal to use in the 1900’s. However, the verge to become legal has risen. Marijuana has many benefits to its name. From a medical standpoint, a government benefit, and even a misunderstanding of its lethality. Marijuana is very useful, and not as treacherous as people think. Even though some people say that there are many negatives to marijuana, there are still things that make legalizing pot not dangerous. To begin with, marijuana is used in medicine possibly taken in different types of techniques. Multiple states in the U.S allow for the use of marijuana as a medicine. The methods used for medical marijuana is by smoking the weed, drink the weed in a liquefied state, or even eat and edible version of the marijuana. The use of weed in the medical field alleviates pain such as “symptoms associated with an array of illnesses, including cancer and multiple sclerosis.” (Strouse). There are much more diseases that marijuana alleviates. Marijuana opens up the medical field to find new painkillers or even find new cures to different diseases. Some opponents of legalizing marijuana say that the drug can cause traumatic brain damage. It especially destroys the developing stages of a brain In adolescents and teens. Even though this is possible, marijuana heals multiple brain injuries.
