If there is one thing the boating world offers, its options. Not only do you get to choose what kind of boat you want, but you get to choose what kind of that kind of boat you want to choose. The one you should go for, like any boat, is all dependant on two things. The first, is budget, the second, is purpose. Unless you have an orchard filled with money trees in your backyard, chances are you are buying a boat with a goal in mind. Pontoon Boats: Pontoon boats are a highly popular model for casual boaters. They are simple, fun, and spacious. They operate by having two pontoons running the length of the boat, and a motor hanging off the back between them. A pontoon boat is designed more around cruising than it is for speeding through the waterways. They are perfect for a family outing on the lake, or a scenic trip down the canal. Tritoon boats are more stable than a pontoon boat when it comes to rough waters, and come with either bigger motors, or more motors than a pontoon boat, making them idea for going at higher speeds. While this may seem like a bonus compared to owning a pontoon boat, it is important to realize that a tritoon has more, and also costs notably more. If you do not plan on speeding around the water, than purchasing a tritoon is spending money on something you don’t need.
