Recreational Marijuana I am writing this research paper to show how marijuana isn’t as bad as everyone says it is and to show who wants it legalized and how it could help our economy in a very good way, and where the money could go in helping the states that legalize it. I believe that legalizing marijuana federally and taxing it, as exemplified by Colorado and California, as well as many other states, the government would do very well and would alleviate some current national debts.A majority of people in the United States agree. Researchers at the Washington University school of Medicine found that the rates of marijuana use by young people are falling despite the fact that more U.S. states are legalizing or decriminalizing marijuana use and the number of adults using the drug has increased. Colorado, Washington, Alaska and Oregon all passed regulations to prevent kids exposure to marijuana, including child-resistant packaging. Tax revenues in legal marijuana states provide funding to the police, drug-treatment and mental health centers, and housing programs , along with school programs such as anti-bullying campaigns, youth mentoring and public school grants. In Colorado, $40 million of marijuana tax revenue went to public schools construction (ProCon). Along with that $105 million went to public housing programs, mental health programs in jails and prisons, and health programs in middle schools in
