Departmental Assessment Everyone is the world was born with different qualities and opinions, which is why what might be great for someone, might be terrible for another. This is why when using subjective measures, it can cause problems because not everyone thinks like you. Especially when creating new laws; it needs to come from objective measures rather than subjective measures to avoid a bad outcome. Objective measures come from research and fact which is more important than personal experience and thoughts, such as the legalization of marijuana. One of the most recent laws to pass or to not pass would be the legalization of marijuana. From an objective viewpoint of the topic, is that just because someone has had a personal experience with the drug someone else might not have to same effects with marijuana. The American Epilepsy Society said, “The recent anecdotal reports of positive effects of the marijuana derivative cannabidiol for some individuals with treatment-resistant epilepsy give reason for hope. However, we must remember that these are only anecdotal reports, and robust scientific evidence for the use of marijuana is lacking” (“Medical Marijuana”). If they were to legalize the drug because of the personal experiences associated with weed; they would also need to see from the objective viewpoint of weed still being dangerous. If it were legal to everyone then it would be more readily accessible to people, giving them the power to have access to abuse the substance.
