In his article, Matt Richtel notes that constant digital stimulation creates attention problems for kids with brains that are still developing (Richtel). Because children’s brains are still developing and malleable, a lot of exposure to constant digital stimulation causes attention and other aspects of thinking to be greatly diminished. These things are fundamental to children’s growth and they need them to develop into happy and successful people. Living in an environment with no other choices but phones and computers, children can grow up to depend on technology, making their chances for health problems increase. Again, researchers say that “Heavy multitaskers actually have more trouble focusing and shutting out irrelevant information, scientists say, and they experience more stress.” “Attached to Technology and Paying a Price”(Page 1, Par 5, Line 22) For the second time, a survey showed that “... the more time young people spend in front of screens, the worse their performance in

Growing up digital has brought about several issues, including decreased attention spans, lack of socialization and empathy, and poor communication skills. While technology has revolutionized the way we communicate and learn, it has also caused several negative effects that need to be addressed. Students can use technology for research, play educational games, learn from different areas around the world, etc. Yes, little usage of technology does benefit a child’s success. Nevertheless, most students spends too much time on their devices and is most likely going to get addicted to it. Technology is fun, but it leads to procrastination and eventually failing in class. As a person who has grown up watching tv, playing video games, and also enjoying the outdoors i can understand both sides of this arguement. However, i agree more with the second passage in the sense that screen time isnt the main cause of the issues these people have. Now-a-days everyone is linked into some type of technology whether it be a smartphone, laptop, or videogame. In addition, as a person who excels better with a visual or physical example rather than reading text from a book, I see technology as a way to better learn new things. Have you ever taken into consideration, how much screen time is too much? Well the American Academy of Pediatrics or the AAP has done studies and had shown that there should be a limit on screen time and the limit should be two hours on electronics a day at max. After reading and examining their sources on screen time you can very easily identify that children are starting to use electronics a lot more than they should for non-educational purposes. This can lead to many bad things in the child's future so the American Academy of Pediatrics decided to step in and suggest that all kids and teens should have a two hour screen limit. This can be very beneficial for children and teens in a variety of ways but, just to show that the AAP's suggestion of having a two hour screen limit is beneficial is that one, children are beginning to lack in the ability to be able to read emotions on people's faces.

Over the years there has been a big controversy over whether video games are relatively good or extremely bad for children. Video games are super beneficial to a kid’s learning process and have been proven to increase social skills, productivity, and stress. The fear that video games are harmful to a child, is proven through countless experiments that they are actually great for their growth and brain capacity. Video games can increase the social skills in a child, Xbox and PlayStation provide great opportunities for cooperation and competition. Two different studies, one by Katherine Keyes and the other by Vinay Devnath, both have proved that the use of video games can increase the social skills that many children can’t grasp, “Video game playing is often a collaborative leisure time activity for school-aged children, and these results indicate that children who frequently play video games may be socially cohesive with peers and integrated into the school”( Keyes, PhD).
