All over the world people rely on technology in their daily lives. The large majority of people perceive technology as good. After all, many technological advancements are good; it is because of technology that we now have all of the information in the world that can be accessed by a machine the size of our hands, known as a smartphone. This is to say that technology and its advancements are generally perceived as good, but not all of them are good. Self-driving cars are a new technology that is being developed. It is not a good technology because it is very expensive, restricts freedoms we have with current cars, and has many additional risks that our current cars do not have.

This is known as aesthetics and it is a huge part of modern car culture. Generally, as rule of thumb, people want to look good and they want their car to look good also. There is a huge variety of ways to do this. Things like paint, custom wraps, decals, body kits, spoilers and roof racks are all ways for people to make their vehicle look unique. Just like with performance parts, there are so many different variations of each aesthetic part that makes every individual build unique in its own little way. A fantastic example of aesthetic customization is my mom's Mustang. My mom bought her dream Mustang a while ago and to make it unique to her, she had a decal shop make and install custom purple butterfly decals. Now she is very proud to say that it is the only one in the world with those decals. All of the happiness that this brought my mother would have been obliterated by the self-driving car. The sensors required to make the car function in the current prototypes are in the side. This means that those decals my mother loves so much would not be able to be installed. It also means that the vehicle cannot have wider tires, or be lowered or lifted which are the main things people do to a vehicle to get the look that they
