Coming to you from the little town of Loganville, Georgia, I am Makenzie Morgan. I am a freshman here at the University of Tennessee and I am planning to major in Special Education with a concentration in Deaf and Hard of Hearing. I hope to teach Special Education at an elementary school level once I complete the 5 year program offered here at UTK. My passion is to mold the minds of young children and show them that the world has so much to offer and even with their disabilities, they are more than capable to conquer their hopes and dreams. During my time in high school, I felt as if writing came easy to me. I never had a problem voicing my opinion and backing that opinion up with critical information and quotes given by experts via the internet. Going off of this, I believe that writing argumentative essays aren’t hard to write when you have evidence to back up your side of the story. Taking the information I am given by my professors and applying that each time I am asked to write, I believe my writing should only get better and more efficient in informing the readers my thoughts, arguments, and knowledge on the given topic. As my career grows more into a reality and becomes more near then far in time, writing will become a main part of my job in and outside the workplace. Being an educator, I will be required to write effective lesson plans, understanding IEPs, and truthful reviews on how my class is progressing as a whole, as well as, the individuals in the class.
