Truckers are a major part of the freight transportation industry and the everyday life of the people. Although they used to be looked up to by kids, they are now misconceived for something that doesn’t represent them for who they truly are. Truckers are often viewed as loners who just sit in their trucks their whole lives and drink and do drugs while they’re hitting the road for a routine long haul on the highways across the country. People often think that trucks cause accidents in traffic. Everyday people believe a truckers job is not to hard and speak or act as if they could do it if not better than the drivers who have driving for months or over a decade. Since childhood some trucks have that shine or beauty that ignite passion or love for them inside of a trucker or little kids who look up to truckers. In an article on npr.org by Samantha Raphelson she reminds us readers that, "Being a truck driver was something that carried a certain level of honor with it," she says. "They were kind of the 'knights of the road, and we lost that somewhere along the way, and I think often trucks are portrayed as sort of this negative reality on the road." Basically restating the fact that truck drivers were looked up to so much by kids would want to be truckers themselves. When a few accidents happen here and there everyone is fast to blame the drivers who are not truly responsible for traffic or the accidents causing them. So to put the “It’s always the driver’s fault statement to rest”, according to data from truckertotrucker.com “truckers are three times less likely to get into an accident than a regular motor vehicle.” Trucks are on involved in 2.4% of car accidents. Those accidents are caused my dangerous maneuvers by car drivers around trucks that are bigger and heavier therefore giving them less time to react which causes the accident. Before truckers would be put at fault but for the sake of dashcams being on mostly all trucks many people have been caught purposely getting in front of the truck and slamming the brakes just to collect money from trucking companies. She also states that, “A report from the American Trucking Associations says more than 70 percent of goods consumed in the U.S. are moved by truck, but the industry needs to hire almost 900,000 more drivers to meet rising demand.” Although there are many truckers the need for drivers is still needed immensely because shipments aren’t being covered, trucks are sitting without drivers, small companies that contribute to the economy are being affected negatively and sadly some have to shut
