Every American should have the chance to be apart of higher education without the cost holding them back from more knowledge. Ever high school student is always faced with the decision on if they want to go into higher education, and most of the time cost can be a major bump in the road. Everyone is always competing on who's going to get the next scholarship or how they are going to pay, but in reality most students have to cut the bill themselves and graduate with a ton of debt. There has been much debate on having free community college and just some of the areas are Obamas college plan, how other countries have had success with this idea, and how it would overall benefit our country. Obama has came up with a new proposal called the American’s College Promise to help increase the number of citizens that have a college degree. It is good for everybody in the community by helping them understand with all different fields. The main object to a good community is that there is equal opportunities for everybody (Wiener). It would also give a greater advantage and improve America in the economic competition. This idea would help as many as nine million people alone. It would also give you a helping hand when wanting to go into a four year plan (Roach). Another change that would have to be counted for would be that many community colleges would have to strengthen all of their programs making it a better experience for all students to learn. It states that, “New higher education investment is far more about the public good rather than individual benefit (Roach).” With the cost of community college today it is stated that you can balance it out with the good paying job that you get afterwords but that is not the case for many and some end up covered in debt for just gaining more knowledge
