Community college is a great place to start on your way into getting a degree and chasing the career you have always wanted. Although finishing two years in community will only get you an associate's degree, it will put you one step close to receiving a bachelor's degree if you choose to transfer. There’s always an option to go straight to a four year university and receiving a bachelor’s right away but many students can’t afford or don’t receive any financial help to pay for it so they take the community college route instead. Receiving a pretty decent amount of financial aid lifted a lot of weight off my back because I most likely won’t have to take out any student loans. If there was a chance I didn’t get any aid, I would have gone to a community college because I know that I wouldn’t have been able to pay off so much money. Although many low income students receive aid there is also many of them that don’t which makes it difficult for them in getting in the school they have always dreamed of. But if community college were to be free just like Obama wants it to be, the low income students would be able to get a degree and even transfer into a UC or CSU if they choose to. If they choose to transfer after two years, it will mean that they will only have to pay for the two years at a UC or CSU while they get their bachelor’s degree. Because many students will be able to go off to college even if they can’t afford because of Obama, it means more people receive a higher education therefore more jobs in every work area being fulfilled. Although they proposed that community college should be free to everyone I feel that it shouldn't, I think that only low income and students who can’t afford it should be granted free college because they deserve an equal chance at receiving a higher education just like everyone else.
