Some believe that the courts should use the death penalty on those who are going to be in prison for life. However, I am against it. The government should not be able to choose when your life should be ended. I just think that it is cruel and inhumane to use the death penalty on anyone. Everyone can learn from their errors after they realize the mistakes they have made. Even the darkest heart can change. Some may argue why keep criminals alive? Why do you pay to keep criminals alive? First, the government does not have the right to end someone’s life. Killing them is not a good way of revenge on a criminal. “There is an indirect correlation between educational attainment and arrest and incarceration rates, particularly among males, the report found.” (Dills). Ideally people would graduate high school and attend college but most of the criminals dropped out of high school. Part of that is on the student for not doing good in school as they are unmotivated. Poor teachers may be a cause if the students may not be motivated if the teacher works at a fast pace. Parental guidance may not encourage kids to do well in school. My parents motivated me at a young age to do well in school and has helped me ever since they helped me at a young age. I feel like most criminals come from low income families with little to none education. So part of the blame could be on the parents for not doing a good job parenting. When kids get tried as adults, then the kids get punished way more then they should, especially for growing up in a bad environment. If the quality of life increases, then the crime rate should decrease dramatically. Many crimes could have been prevented if a parent was more involved in the children's life.
