In recent studies, studies have lead to the discovery that marijuana cures pain better than prescription and other the over the counter pills, and it is cheaper than many of the prescription pill counterparts, but marijuana is prescribed less than painkillers and is still illegal in many states. Although many marijuana researchers claim that marijuana could end the need for many prescription drugs because marijuana can help with such a diverse amount of illnesses and diseases, marijuana is still considered to be a Schedule 1 narcotic, with no medical properties. Considering that oxycontin and Zoloft are schedule 2 narcotics, which means they have medicinal benefits, although they put thousands of people in the hospital yearly unlike marijuana. …show more content…

Although many still believe marijuana can be very expensive, and can be over regulated and taxed. Many Americans believe that the United State should legalize marijuana like Uruguay did for a dollar a gram. Although this seems like the right answer many of the people who live in Uruguay are very unsatisfied with the marijuana being grown there, and they said it smells like piss. Many times the prescription pill Americans are taking they must stay on and must keep taking to stay “healthy”, and many times these pills can be hundreds of dollars a month. Marijuana could replace many of the prescription pills that need to be taken daily the patients to keep their normal way of life. Marijuana could be a safer and much for affordable alternative for many of these patients. 75% of the prescription pills in the world are consumed by Americans, many times people are prescribed pills are they don’t even know the name of the disease or illness they have or how to say it. Marijuana is one of the earliest known medicines, in 2900 BC the Chinese Emperor considered marijuana a very popular medicine, also in 200 BC, in ancient Greece marijuana was a home-remedy for many things, but it took just under 2200 years when California first legalized medical marijuana in 1996 (NV, By YasemiinOmarii Reno. “Medical Marijuana.”). Also, the legalization of marijuana would bring in millions of dollars in taxes for the United States government, and create a numerous amount of jobs, but one of the reasons the FDA has not approved because it would be the only FDA approved drug that is smokable. If medical marijuana gets legalized nationwide it would be a much more affordable than the prescription pill
