Nowaday people life is not complete without music. Music is connected in people’s everyday lives. Music can be heard everywhere and anywhere: at work, at school, on the television, in radio, while shopping, and in a car. Music is the way to express emotions and communication with people. There are lot of different kinds of music such as country, classical, rock and roll, jazz, folk, rap and others. The majority of time, rap music has a strong, but mostly negative, influence on teeagers, including me. According to a study by the black youth project twenty-three percent of white youth, fifty-eight percent of black youth, and forty-five percent of hispanic listen to rap music everyday and seventy-two of them agreed that the music they listen to, influences them in some way. Rap lyrics talk about drugs, violence, alcohol, and sex. The rap lyrics promote violence, alcohol, drugs, and sex. Also, the music videos with sex scenes are inappropriate because lots of teenagers will watch them. It will have a negative impact on them because teenagers will think it’s appropriate to do something like that because it will make them look cool. Most of the time rap music has lot of bad words, which is not appropriate for teenagers. For instance, if they listen to music with cuss words, it will influence them to say cuss words. It is also nasty to hear cuss words and seeing people cussing. In rap music people shows many parts of their body, which is very inappropriate and it might influence teenagers to do same thing. For example, seeing that bad stuff, they might going to learn bad behavior and imitate them. Nowaday we see lots of people using drugs. They might have got the influence from rap music.
