Arguments Against Gun Control

As stated by the Second Amendment, firearms are an inalienable right given to Americans. Therefore, taking away this right would completely obliterate the ideas that this country was founded upon. The founding fathers foresaw future generations being able to protect themselves from the inevitable. Firearms have a presence in many people’s lives, whether it be as a tool, hobby, or protection. Consequently, legislation surrounding firearms has become a recent argument considering the many uses for them and the specific ways they are being used today. Banning firearms would do more harm than good for a number of reasons since firearms are used as a defense mechanism it would be a violation of the second amendment, and guns don't kill people, people

The average firearm owner possesses the need for a gun for self-defense, while others may hold malicious intent. In total, the United States has about 270,000,000 firearms or about 88.8 firearms per 100 citizens. 22% of them own more than one gun, which shows how many are in circulation (“Background”). However, firearm ownership not an invitation to own an unlimited amount of firearms, which thus has put into place gun control laws. Gun control laws, strict or not, are meant to regulate the areas in which firearms can be carried, who can carry them, where they can be purchased, and a varying number of other reasons depending on the state. Therefore, gun control is one of the most widely known debates across the nation, so should the right to own a firearm be infringed

Understanding the Amendment and what it stands for can be highly controversial and misinterpreted seeing as how it deals with both understanding of the American Constitution and protection of one's life. The confiscation of citizen’s guns would most certainly violate the Amendment, however, the types of firearms are regulated under laws. This is where the situation can become opinionated and controversial because the Amendment does not just give anyone and everyone the right to own whatever firearms they want. Consequently, the line is blurred differentiating between allowing the who and what of firearm ownership. The banishment of all firearms would in no way, shape or form stop all gun violence. For instance with the war on drugs, just because these narcotics are illegal does not mean people do not have access to them and use
