Acceptance of the voucher is best based solely on the grounds of religious freedom. In the United States we believe of Freedom of Worship and that all people have the right to worship wherever and however they choose. On the other hand, I would have to reject the entire concept of the school vouchers because I do not and cannot support the idea of non-religious individuals having to pay taxes for religious teachings and practices. The way our education system is set up right now it caters to no race, religion, or ethical background but instead provides an equal opportunity education for our youth to have an adequate chance at survival in the world we live in today. I am by no means against providing a religious education class or even having private schools which are more religion centered, but having schools that do not teach the 3R’s doesn’t seem to be preparing them for life. It in fact almost seems to be ensuring their failure in all things except their religion.
I thought school vouchers are only used for private schools. Enrolling in any school with a voucher shouldn’t be an issue. As an American I don’t want my tax dollars paying for religious education. Having a voucher for religious education causes taxes to go up as well, putting a hardship on the community involved. It’s sad that regardless of the issues, the low-income families have little help. The voucher often does not cover the cost of other mandatory fees for private schools. Citizens are the ones that are suffering from the cost of living due to the
