Standardize test has been around more than 100s years. It was officially created in 1905 by a french psychologist, named Alfred Binet and he wanted to do a modern IQ test for the selective service during World War I. Though it was actually the Imperial China that created standardized test to determine one’s eligibility for positions in the government of a ruling class. Klein states that the No Child Left Behind Act is a update version of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). The law cause the American education system to be less competitive internationally. In addition, it increase the federal role towards school’s academic progress for all students. The law put an emphasis on school to boost their performance for certain groups of students, such as English-language learners, special education, and the poor and minority children. And if the state’s school doesn’t meets the requirement, then they will lose federal Title I money. States education leaders get change if the performance doesn’t meet with the standard. (Education Week) Though there are risk such as low scores will force the student in repeating the same grade or a class. It also help determine high school graduation rates and how many students dropout. It also use for advanced placement and college testing. (Concordia University) Danny Kichi states that a class grade isn’t consistent because not all the teacher has the same expectation. And some teacher are compel to teach similar to the actual test, so the teacher won’t affect the school funding. United States has problem with testing by having mismatch standards in different districts and states, aligning national test. In a multiple choice are straightforward results, students thinking is simplistic, and they also don’t show student’s creativity. While response test shows student critical thinking. Gerald W.
