Standardized testing is a way to determine the potential of the student and the academic achievement. The American students are ranked against others around the world, and the number that America is in is not encouraging. The tests are not fair, and their use is producing a narrow curriculum and this kind of tests only limits the chances of the nation to produce qualified professionals like innovators. Standardized testing does not help the American students because the tests do not give the true potential and the ability of the student. The tests are given to the students to determine how well they have prepared, but this does not portray the true potential of the students.

The education system has to equip the students with important things like leadership, creative thinking, and self-awareness. These aspects of education do are measure by these tests, and therefore the students are not fully benefiting from the standardized tests. Most schools in the US have reduced their time from other subjects like arts to concentrate more on reading sciences and mathematics. By doing this, the curriculum is being narrowed and time to come other subjects will have no meaning or less attention in schools. The teachers are forced to concentrate more on one subject that is always difficult for students who neglect other subjects. The same system of NCLB tests is not helping the students because the students from underfunded and overcrowded schools are being subjected to the same tests with students from well-established schools. On the students learning progress, there is very little that these tests are doing and a continuous giving out of the tests will have long-lasting negative effects on the students. There is a stress among the young students which is caused by the NCLB, and the bright students are anxious to do them, but other students fear the tests. Education should be something that the students should be enjoying and not something that they can fear. Therefore the tests, in the long run, will also affect the attendance of the students in these
