It?s almost standardized testing season for public schools across the county. standardized test does not only asses the student its self, but they also asses the teacher and even the school. This puts a great amount of pressure on the student and the teacher. With standardized testing months around the corner the time for interactive learning is over, which means it?s time for memorization. teachers across the county are drilling information in to students and hoping to receive high scores. the main intentions of standardized testing where to help students succeed but that has not accrued. That is why all standardized test should be eliminated from the k-12 school system they have not improved student achievement and are not a reliable way to measure student performance. student achievement cannot be measured by a single test score it is a combination of thing both in school and at home. A student can strive in a classroom but my not have a high test score. A nine-year study by the national research council demonstrated that the emphasis on testing actually caused students harm. narrowing the curriculum, teaching to the test, pushing students out of school, driving teachers out of the profession, and undermining student engagement are all consequences of standardized testing. Teaching for the test is one of the biggest issues with so much depending on student test scores teachers feel that it is necessary. This means less is being spent on teaching subjects like science and social studies because students need to prepare for reading and mathematics standardized
