I have created an art piece which links ot the artist Jackson Pollock and Joanne Boon Thomas. It is a painting of space with a cluster of neublas and stars, however what makes it unique is that there is an eclipse in the middle of the canvas which is elevated from the canvas, this gives it a slightly 3D feeling that you would get when looking at a planet. The meaning behind my work is to show how galaxies can be lightyears across but still be tethered to each other, this links into together and apart as it demonstrates how even though the planets, stars and nebulas are so far apart from each other, they are all still bound to each other by gravity, and the galaxy is only called a galaxy because all these planets, stars and nebulas are together, …show more content…

I also made my final piece link to some of Joanne Bon Thomas's art work as I used her techniques with brusho to get the surface of the planets in my piece. She uses brusho in unique ways to get a range of effects in her work, i tried to implement different techniques into each planet to make the planets feel varied, I took this a step further by mixing different brusho powders to get two tone planets with interesting landscapes. The materials i used for my piece were acrylic paint, brusho, card board, plywood and card. I decided to use these materials because when i experimented with other thinks like bleach and ink, i found them too hard to control as bleach and ink were very hard to remove from mistakes in my work, also i didnt think the use of bleach fitted my theme of space, whereas something like acrylic can give a deep solid tone making it perfect for space as much of space is a deep black colour. Also by using acrylic i was able to make the gradient easily for the eclipse, whereas with bleach I wouldn't be able to make
