The IEP team considered not to select “Regular” or “Resource” as the level educational placement, but rejected the “Resource” educational placement as it was determined that a “Regular” level of educational placement was the least restrictive amount of time needed to accomplish the established goals. In retrospect, the goals that were created with Maria may have only further added to the mounting pressure in her life. My need to follow a model based approach, meet three times a week and uphold stakeholder requirement coupled with automatically asserting my professional knowledge (unintentionally) regarding how to approach her circumstances may have diminished Maria’s own meaning of the situation. It is interesting to note that the same way that Maria may have felt overwhelmed or pressured to meet “her goals” is the same way that her own service providers felt pressured to “help” Maria meet her goals. The consequences of a probation violation depend on a number of different circumstances. The seriousness of the violation and the nature of the violation are the two biggest factors that determine the consequences. Although federal and state governments govern the laws surrounding probation violations, each state has their own guidelines regarding violations and the punishment associated with the violations. Types of Probation Violations Aside from breaking current laws, people on probation can violate the terms of their probation in other ways. If offenders do not report to their probation officers at the scheduled place and time, they are in violation of their probation.
In my current role as Probation and Parole Officer, I have learned and gain a lot of experience with the Delaware Court System. While supervising individuals on level 2 Domestic Violence, level 2 interstate and current case load standard level 2 and pre-trial supervision, I have gain a lot of experience with the different court systems which entails, Family Court, Court of Common Pleas, Superior Court, and Justice of Peace. When the court orders an individual to serve Probation, It is my duties to make sure I’m enforcing the terms and conditions of supervision and keeping the Court informed of the individuals compliance or noncompliance. The courts have various programs and resources they can implement to not only help the individual but also the probation officer with their recommendation. The court can request that an individual get evaluated by a physiatrist (most time the evaluation is funded by the state).
Asset-Based Assignment A fourth grade student who will be called AB, for the purpose of anonymity, has had an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). AB reads at kindergarten level and is able to complete basic math computations at a first grade level. Although the student has had an IEP since kindergarten and has received specially designed instruction on a regular, he has made little progress in the general education classroom.
