Imagine this: you are a young girl living in a developing nation. Everyday you stay home because you need to take care of your family. You don’t go to school because of traditions which don’t value your education. You are in danger of early marriage if you don’t go to school. Over 60 million girls, including Syrian refugees, are not in school and can’t learn. (The Malala Fund, Web) The Malala Fund is working toward a world where all girls, no matter where they live, can have 12 free, safe years of education, and in order to do this, they need your help.
The Malala Fund has a selection of different programs helping girls around the world, and there are many ways to help them. Some people might think that it’s not important to help these girls because they’re just children, and their family should help them, and it won’t make a real difference. Donating to the Malala Fund helps girls in many important ways. For example, every school year a girl finishes, her wages will increase by an average 12 percent. It also contributes to the economy, because increasing girls completing secondary schooling by 1 percent will increase a country's economic growth by 0.3 percent. The capital of Kenya, Nairobi, is becoming a digital spot of Africa, and The Malala Fund is helping young girls get involved. Even though Kenya offers primary education, less than 50 percent of girls in Kenya are out of secondary school because of cost. By donating, you’re providing these girls the technology they need to prepare for 21st century jobs. This program also provides job and intern opportunities.
