What are the main points and purpose of the UDHR (United Declaration of Human Rights) and the speech that Malala Yousafzi’s made to the UN? Both bring up interesting points about human rights, but in different mediums and different aspects about certain rights. By not saying directly the same things, they are implied that they are almost the same ideas. The UDHR and Malala’s speech come to the same meaning by how they talk about different rights but mean the same thing, why they were created, and what elements are the same between the two documents. They were thought of when something bad happened to a certain group of people, or just a certain person. The UDHR was made after WWII because the Nazi’s treated the prisoners worse than slaves. “…Whereas it is essential, if man is not to be compelled to have recourse, as a last resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, that human rights should be protected by the rule of law…” (“General Human Rights Assembly” 2) As it says in the articles, we should never treat anyone like a slave again (or worse), or treat them inhuman ever again. (5) Over 60 years after UDHR, a young girl was shot in the head and was almost killed. She was a girl who spoke up against terrorists and basic rights. She was finally found and was shot through the head. Luckily, she survived (2). That girl is Malala Yousafzi. After she recovered, she went on to talk to the UN and give a speech concerning the rights to people that live in third world countries. She wants to change the way they are treated by giving young boys and girls a higher level of education so then they can fight back and so can their kids. Two very similar documents that were created years apart were because of inhuman acts that should never happen in the modern
