9. Being in groups was the effect of the rigid caste system by the Spanish in the Americas. These groups were based off of your family. For example the more money your family had the higher you were place. And same if you had little to no money, you were placed lower in the system.
Degrouping and regrouping are operated supported by social construction because that is how people create their reality. It all depends on their situation and how it is handled. Social construction is the ways in which people create their perceived reality, and it has different components which are issue, language, system of stratification and social reference. Subgroups are a division of groups into other smaller ones. In the film all the characters are examples of secondary groups and out groups. In secondary groups relationships involve a weak emotional tie and little personal knowledge about one another. Also, in an out-group a person feels a sense of completion and opposition. However these groups did change near the end, it is very unrealistic

Social othering refers to the tendency to classify individuals and/ or groups as “Others.” To elaborate on this further, it arises among individuals who align themselves with a particular social group where, as a result, their values and norms are consistent with said group’s identity. Individuals in this social group would subconsciously identify themselves as the known in-group. At the same time, there are also individuals who may have differing values and norms that may go against this social group’s identity. As a result, these individuals who deviate from the expectations of the social group would be classified as this unknown outgroup (by members of said social
Social categorization theory developed by Turner (1978) describes the categorization of people based on salient attributes like gender, ethnicity or age, resulting in stereotyping on the basis of these differences. Social categorization theory posits that similarities and dissimilarities of demographics can lead formation of different group with resulting effects on member of in-group favorably themselves to the detriment of members of out-groups social (Turner, Brown & Tajfel, 1979). Self-categorization theory explains when individuals categorize themselves by assigning to themselves the manners, actions and other characteristics they link with association within a specific group (Schmitt, Branscombe, Silvia, Garcia, & Spears. 2016). By means of self-categorization and membership of a group, people cultivate a social identity that functions as a social-cognitive scheme (customs, standards and attitudes) for their group associated action. The tendency is for the perceiver to consider these attributes as vital to his or her own personality and thus use these attributes to label others (Hoffman Harburg, & Maier, 2014).
Situations like this are shown in the book “Flawed” where these ideas of labels are taken to the extreme. Labels can matter a lot in our modern lives, they can alter how people see others, they alter how people
The ability for a group of humans living together and coexisting are all apart of the societal structure. We all probably wouldn't be able to operate if we didn’t have some type of structure or norms to abide by. Social structure is simply a system of socioeconomic stratification, institutions and social groups. As detailed in the book Understanding Social Problems “Imagine that society is a coin with two sides: On one side is the structure of society, and on the other is the culture of society. Although each side is distinct, both are inseparable from the whole”
Into the Darkness: How and why is a social group presented in a particular way? Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness takes a multi-faceted approach to the issues that surrounded 19th century colonization and imperialism in Africa. Marlow’s journey into the heart of Africa serves to highlight the hypocrisy of this endeavor, and how this deceit followed the rhetoric utilized by the colonizers in order to justify their colonization of Africa and the treatment of the natives. As the novel progresses, Africa becomes more of a backdrop for Conrad to truly expose the depravity of European intervention in Africa. Through Marlow’s narrative, varying connotations of words and his own main character’s reactions,as well as copious amounts of descriptive imagery, Conrad casts Europeans in a negative light in order to criticize imperialism and colonists.
Buddhism and Abortion Abortion is a huge controversial topic around the world. The controversy is centered around morals and what is considered to be right, wrong and okay for certain circumstances. For example, circumstances that might make it okay for a woman to have an abortion is if she were raped and a child were conceived and she could not support the child or if she accidentally conceived or if she could lose her life birthing the child. The topic of abortion becomes complicated when religion is involved because of different religious views and beliefs on abortion. Abortion itself is, "a medical procedure that ends a pregnancy" (Parenthood, Planned).
