Ms. Baird CPW4UO-01 Tuesday, March 1, 2016 Understanding Ideology Society is complex and filled with many different opinions on political issues they may change as different circumstances occur each day. The environment around us has a powerful influence on the decisions that we produce and the views that we as Canadians decide to believe in. I believe that my family members influence my political ideology. I believe anyone my age would be lying if they said that their parents didn’t have any sort of influence on their political ideologies and mine certainly did. However to understand ideology we must understand we may not agree with every policy that your party agrees with. My family is Colombian and very conservative and I guess that rubbed off on me. However one conservative principal I do not agree with is on the issue abortion. My top and one of my only liberal beliefs is that I am pro-choice. I’d say something that separates me from being very conservative is my belief in division between of what religion says and someone's own choices especially one it comes to the difficult decision of having a child or not. In Colombia the concept of abortion would not sit well with people as they believe in the true conservative ideology that terminating an unborn child is against god's will. According to the (CBC) “The federal government is scrapping measures brought in by the Conservatives that allow Ottawa to revoke the citizenship of Canadians convicted of terrorism and other offences” (Parry, Tom, 2016). I think this is absurd as we should not allow convicted terrorists to retain citizenship in Canada. Those who break the law in Canada do not have the same rights as those who obey the law. I'm Libertarian Right and agree with the concepts of smaller government and privatization but I draw the line when it comes to terrorism. The liberals believe that everyone should be Canadian and yes includes terrorists. My personal ideology is we should not follow this policy because it will create a negative to the Canadian identity and this should have never been introduced in the first place as people who intend to commit crimes should not be treated equally as law abiding ones.
