Seth Marshall Professor: Messersmith Comp 2 2/22/16 Different Leadership Styles All people have different opinions on how a leader should handle things. Such as war, people, poverty, and even themselves. Both Machiavelli in “The qualities of the prince” talks about on how a prince is supposed to be a leader and that good leaders must learn not to be convenient or compassionate to keep stability. Lao Tzu in “Thoughts from the Tao-te Ching” believes in having a silent leader so the people will do what he wants them to do and fill like they are not being guided.
There are several qualities that make a good leader, william golding wrote lord of the flies which describes a leader named ralph who lead a group of boy who were stranded on an island by a fallen. The boy selected ralph over a raise of hands, over his opponent jack. Ralph was a better leader choice over jack because, of his better thinking, ability to prioritize, and selfless personality. Thinking is a fundamental trait, thinking can make or break a leader.
This is a valuable trait of a leader that I embody. Another trait that is vital is responsibility. One person can obtain multiple styles. Whether the styles be very similar or quite opposite like the styles displayed by Rosa Parks. A form of adaptability where you can lead effectively with different approaches. Leaders are placed on a pedestal and it is overlooked that leaders have times where leading can become overwhelming yet through strength passion and determination the mental strain does not take precedent. To add to my leadership I will learn how to discover different aspect of my skill known and hidden.

I see myself as a leader who is lenient, but can also take charge. In a work environment, it isn’t always best to take things seriously. Granted, in some cases things need to be taken seriously, but not to a point where the work isn’t somewhat enjoyable. It’s important to get things done and finish tasks that need to be finished, and as a leader I would need to teach others how to properly execute a task, but in a manner where I am not 100% stern while still doing what’s needed to be done. Also, in a situation when something doesn’t go as planned, I need to step up, take responsibility for my actions, and work my hardest to resolve the problem, without freaking out and giving up.
Nurses are a vital part of the health care system and the leaders that manage their performance can affect their productivity, trust, and even acceptance of change. The purpose of this paper is to discuss my style of leadership based on a leadership style survey. I will also describe what leadership and management theories align with my leadership style. After presenting my leadership style, I will discuss the work environment that this style would be successful in.
