CIRI has initiated their offices to be green certificated standards set by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) that sets the guidelines by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) (CIRI, 2010). CIRI promotes the economic and social well-being of their shareholders and their families. CIRI also promotes community initiatives by supporting through volunteering and fundraising for various charitable organizations. Short/Long-term Effects The energy efficiency helps combat climate change in the long-term, while effectively saving money to over 6,500 homes in Alaska. CIRI’s buildings use less water, electricity and natural gas from LEED initiatives. This allows CIRI to reduce their carbon footprint for both short and long-terms.
