While Jose and Jorge are identical twins, their lives could not have been any more different. They have different health determinants to their unfortunate diseases that differ from each other. The case study of Jorge and Jose emphasizes the idea that your zip code determines your health more than your genetic code. Just a quick reminder, Jose is the twin who grew up in a largely improvised family, while Jorge is the twin who grew up in an upper-middle-class family. Since both brothers have asthma it can be assumed that the brothers have asthma in their genetics, however, needed to be triggered.
The findings from this research have led me to be certain of the importance of how by just merely looking into a subject from the origin of it can make us understand the true cause of the problem. Often people believe in one thing because it was told to them as a child like “ you are just like your parents who also have asthma.” However, after examining the different triggers of asthma it is with more certainty that I believe the borough of the Bronx has to advocate for its community and the area in they live in. Without change the Bronx’s pollution will continue to affect the people and the hospitalizations will continue to be the highest in all the boroughs.
Health behaviours such as eating habits, drug use and physical activity are important determinants of current and future health status for young people. Healthy Harold teaches young children how to develop skills and build their knowledge towards positive health behaviours. They cater for all children no matter if living with disabilities or lacking motor skills. Usually the mobile classroom comes equipped with special features for those who have a disability, for example, the Healthy Harold mobile classrooms are wheel chair accessible and offer informative services for children that could be deaf or blind.

Self-determination. As Alvin move towards adulthood, he should be able to demonstrate a certain level of self-determined behaviors. He is expected to better manage his self-regulatory behavior, be increasingly independent in his daily life skills and be involved in his personal future planning. Essentially, self-determination provides a form of empowerment and having the abilities to steer a person’s own life, resulting in a more positive quality of life outcome. In promoting self-determination in my classroom teachings, Alvin will be more engaged in his schoolwork, improve in his work performance and behavioral outcomes.
ETHOS Dr. Tanner [Medical Director]- “ if the program can goes good and really helps them sucand allows them to bond, then it does change them and they are doing what they are suppose to be doing that’s good but I don’t think a lot of these children have a great chance in life cause their mothers aren’t just taking care of themselves or are not doing the stuff they need to be doing.” Chris Kerl
