I guess I should clear up a few things. I'm not asking that it's something we bring up at every single meeting, and I'm not saying we need to discuss the recent events in the media. It's just that one of the concerns that several of the undergrads and I had coming away from that meeting yesterday was that, basically we can only find out if someone in the department is guilty of something like this the same way we find out if his or her tests are hard: by talking to each other outside of class. The department has the right not to disclose that information, and that kind of information does not follow a person when they switch job, etc., and we find this enraging, as do many of the faculty, including Dr. Besla. The worst part about recent events was that Geoff Marcy's actions were known only by an underground network of women in his classes; the department didn't even know, and it took 4 individuals to make something happen. The only reason I bring this up to Astronomy Club is because it is a time where the most Astronomy and Physics undergrads are together at once, so I believe it is a good time to let know students know about the fact that the undergrads have support on this matter, urging them to attend TIMESTEP meetings like this, and what they should do should something like this happen. The thing is, there are specific people that we apparently have to go to to talk about these things, and students need to know who they are. Like I said, this can be an occasional mention now and
