Rick Riordan is the author of the book “Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters”. There is multiple ways that Riordan described Annabeth who is the daughter of the Greek Goddess Athena. He described Annabeth as being brave and wise. In the following paragraphs you will read why she is described as being brave and wise. The evidence for how he described Annabeth as brave is that in chapter 12 of “Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters” is how she was there to save Percy when Crece (C.C.) turned him into a Guinea Pig.

Athena is a major character throughout the book of The Odyssey and is known as the goddess of wisdom and battle. Throughout the course of the book, it is evident that Athena has a weak spot for the main character, Odysseus. Odysseus is trying to return home after the Trojan War, as the other Greek hero’s have already done, however he faces multiple challenges a long the way. Fortunately, for Odysseus, Athena was there to guide him through a few of these troubling situations.
During Odysseus’ adventure back home, he gets help from goddess Athene along the way. The goddess stands loyally by Odysseus as she persuaded many gods to be on his side and protected him and got him home safely from his journey. While Odysseus had believed he, “never caught sight of [her] there, on the deck of [his] vessel, helping to shield [him] from danger,” Athene had never abandoned him and was assisting him the entire time. Her loyalty is shown as she shielded Odysseus from any dangers, even going as far as arguing with one of the other gods to keep him safe. Her faithfulness to Odysseus shows the relationship between gods and mortals and how they were to protect their people.
First among the strong women of Odysseus is Athena, the Goddess of wisdom and war. The Odyssey begins with a discussion between Zeus and Athena. At this point, Odysseus is being held as a love slave by Calypso. His ship has been destroyed and all his men are dead. Athena then convinced Zeus to command Kalypso to let Odysseus go.
In The Odyssey, by Homer, Athena influences the lives of Odysseus and his family. In Greek mythology, gods challenge and control mortals. Gods also provide support to mortals and thus, mortals depend and act on behalf of the gods and their decisions. Athena, daughter of Zeus, is the goddess of wisdom, and both Telemachus and Odysseus benefit from her power. Athena possesses the ability to disguise herself and others, and this skill allows her to give advice and guidance.
Athena uses her role as the puppeteer to allow the entire epic to slowly unfold. Without Athena there would be no epic about Odysseus returning home from the brutal Trojan War for the reader to enjoy and the term “odyssey” would not be used to describe a long journey. Athena is the key to the entire story; consequently The Odyssey is her story. The Odyssey is Athena’s story because she plays the role of the puppeteer that causes the events to take place.
The Odyssey is a well known epic that brings the reader through the tale of how Odysseus and his family reunited. Odysseus spent twenty years away from his son, Telemachus, and his wife, Penelope. He was away for ten years at Troy and spent the other ten years on his journey back to his native land, Ithaca. Within the epic, author Homer reveals characters of gods and goddesses throughout the poem who impacted the families journey. One importantly, was the goddess of wisdom and war, Athena.
On on hand, Annabeth is trying to save the Athena Parthenos, the largest statue of Athena ever made. The statue gives Athena her power as a war goddess in her Greek form, but as long as it's still hidden, she's stuck in identity crisis between her Greek and Roman self. Amongst the many women portrayed in the book, the two most important women are Athena and Penelope. Athena is the Goddess of wisdom, courage, law & justice, strength and skills. She plays the role of a mentor in disguise for Odysseus but doesn’t show him the full path to his destination as Athena wants Odysseus to fight and prevail on his own. Penelope is the wife of Odysseus and the mortal queen of Ithaca.
