There is a major difference between a real athlete and a want to be athlete. There is so much time and dedication that goes into being a successful athlete, people might call it and job. Throughout this essay, I hope to highlight some of the ways that people view athletes as, being a person who just plays sports during the season and is a normal kid in the off-season comparable to every other person. A person that wants to be at their best and still strive for higher standards by getting in the gym and weight room is what a real athlete should be viewed as. Accordingly, they strive to be faster and stronger by going to the weight room. Shoot baskets in the gym for countless hours to develop into a consistent shooter, dribbling at home, to improve ball handling. Catching tennis balls from close range, resulting in superior hand-eye coordination. Coming into each practice, real athlete's prepare their mindset to dominate and continue to find ways to mature into an exceptional player for the team and help the team win in every way he or she possibly can. Ordinarily, at the beginning of each season, coaches can easily tell who put in a galore of effort in the off-season and the ones who just sloughed off and certainly do not care for the sport in general. Having a no quit attitude is a must if athletes want to improve themselves and be able to shine on the court or field. Putting in work outside of the season is a huge part of work ethic. Summer camps is a key role in becoming exceptional as an athlete, for then they are able to be coached on what they need to improve on, helping them add workouts and drills to their list for when they go to the gym. Summer leagues, is another way athletes prepare themselves for their season, whether they play in a church league, school league, or team league. This helps tremendously compared to going into the gym and just shooting by yourself. Lifting in the weight room is an insurmountable part of an athlete’s work ethic, for then they can become swole and have improved body control while playing their sport.
