On August 6, 1945, President Harry S. Truman made the decision to drop the two atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Although most of the United States agreed with Harry S. Truman and his decision to drop the two atomic bombs, some people still disagreed. People argued that it was inhumane. Overall, the United State’s decision to drop the two atomic bombs was the correct decision and was not immoral.
One of the reasons President Truman’s descision to drop the atomic bombs on Japan was appropriate is because the war might of countinued further. The Japanese were ordered to fight to the death by their emporer, Hirihito. If the bombs were not dropped, more deaths between the Axis Powers and the Allies would have occured. The bombs caused the Japanese to surrender, which put an end to their relentless fighting. Also, if the U.S. had chose to invade Japan instead of bomb them, it would’ve resulted in mass amounts of death for America. If these deaths would’ve occured, it could’ve hindered America and their ability to fight in greatly.

The amount of people killed during the war is more than 10x the amount killed because of the atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Also, death is just a part of war,these deaths, and possibly more would have been caused, even if the United States did not drop the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
