So I would like to share with you about the US government's practice of air pollution control based on my researches.
Preview: The US government has enacted a series of laws, called by a joint name, the Clean Air Act, to control this community issue.
[Transition] Now, China has some of the worst air pollution in the world, but in 1950’s, it was the US that had a severe air pollution.
BODY:
1. Because of the grim situation, the Congress passed the Air Pollution Control Act of 1955, which is the nation’s first piece of federal legislation on this issue.
A. This was an act to provide research and technical assistance relating to air pollution control”. It grant 5 million dollars annually for five years for research by Public Health Service.
B. Although this act did a little to prevent air pollution, it was a good attempt that recognized the dangers facing public health and welfare, agriculture, livestock, and deterioration of property.
2. Eight years later, Congress passed the Clean Air Act of 1963. The first law bearing the name “Clean air”
