Purpose statement: The purpose of this speech is to convince the audience of why I should not be the class president. Attention getter: Hello fellow classmates, students, peers, brethren, sistren.. Whatever you would like to be called.. I am here today, just like the rest of you to give a speech concerning whether I should or should not be the class president. I am very forgetful at times. A.) I forget dates, assignments and times! Let’s say that I have a quiz on Friday, some homework due on Friday, and an essay due at midnight all on Friday. Because I am forgetful, I forget that I have a quiz, I forget that I have homework due, and I forget that I have an essay due at midnight, so now my life is disaster. (Logical fallacy-Slippery slope) But very fortunately I am standing here before you all today giving this speech, which means I remembered! (Logical fallacy- Red Herring) Last year when it was daylight savings, I woke up on a Sunday morning panicking because I forgot what time church started. I mean I go every week, shouldn’t I know? But because I am forgetful, I somehow even forget something as simple as that. Transition: To continue, II. I can be very indecisive! A.) If there are two or more things that I like, it is very hard for me to just choose one. Whenever I go to the store, whoever is with me is always rushing me as I try to pick between various items that I like. This one time I was picking out which flavor of ice cream I wanted. Chocolate or vanilla? I liked them both.. So which one?! Chocolate! Vanilla! Chocolate!! Vanilla!! Both. I got both flavors of ice cream, and now I have ice cream debt because I do that every time.
