Atticus Finch This morning, Maycomb’s beloved Atticus Finch was murdered by the vicious Robert Ewell, as a result of his work on the criminal defense of Tom Robinson. The lovely father of two young children and lawyer in Maycomb county who fought for Tom Robinson during a groundbreaking case that inspired many to reconsider their social norms, was murdered as a result of his work on this case. Robert ‘Bob’ Ewell, the father of the victim, Mayella Ewell, is rumoured to drink and abuse his children, and was not happy with Atticus’ attitude in the court regarding Robinson’s innocence and humanity. The day after the trial met at court, Bob Ewell approached Atticus at the post office, spat on his face and stabbed him in the stomach.
