Augustine was around in the era of 354 to 430 AD. He was raised in Roman Africa. His parents were not the same religion until his father passed away. They were both Christian after that. Augustine was in the middle age Era which was dominated by Christianity. Augustine allowed his mother to follow him to Milan, were she arranged a marriage for him. It was believed that he truly loved the women that we lived with, and he was hurt when he had to end things. During the early years, Augustine focused on teaching language rules at Thagaste. He had a vision on how people related to God. He thought human was made of two perfect substances, soul and the body. His favorite figure to describe the soul and body, is with marriage. Soul is a kind of thing that fits for ruling the body. Augustine was not already busy with other things like Plato and Descartes were when going into detail to try and explain metaphysics. Which is the study of reality, it asked what is there or what is real. Like other Church Fathers, Augustine considered abortion a crime in any stage of pregnancy. This was created on the study of the connection between Christianity and irreligious society. This is a book that is written of Christian Philosophy. This is considered one of the Augustine’s most works. I agree with that too, because it talks about the decline of Rome. It also talks about suffering, which I think it important to talk about things that matter in the world. Suffering also goes along with the conflict of being free. If you are suffering you can’t be free. I believe that Augustine put this in his book because he saw what people had to go through going back and forth to different religions. Augustine’s writings were from the development of Western Christianity. Which is something that Augustine believed in the beginning. Western Christianity focuses on the doctrine. Which is because of the influence of Augustine. I believe that with writing this book and the influence of the doctrine, Augustine was a big part of the Western Christianity.
