Isabelle Wolfe Baruch Isabelle Wolfe, born 4 Mar 1850 in Winnsboro, Fairfield, South Carolina, the daughter of Sailing Wolfe, a young merchant and planter of Winnsboro, and Sara Cohen, daughter of Rabbi Hartwig Cohen of Charleston. Isabelle, known as “Belle” married Simon Baruch who had immigrated from Schwersenz, near Poland, in East Prussia, to Camden, South Carolina in 1855 to avoid Prussian conscription. At the time he immigrated to America, Simon was fifteen years old and the only person he knew in America when he arrived was a man by the name of Mannes Baum. Mr. Baum was the owner of a general store in Camden, SC and was married to an aunt of Baruch’s mother.
John Singleton Copley was a painter in America. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Richard and Mary Singleton Copley. He became famous as his work consisted of portrait paintings of important figures in colonial New England. His works often depicted certain middle-class subjects. His quick climb and prolonged fame were the result of a natural skill to handle paint and be able to manufacture pictures that obscured anything created by his forerunners in America.
Annie Jean Easley was born April 23, 1933 to Mary Melvina Hoover and Samuel Bird Easley, in Birmingham Alabama. She was raised, along with her older brother, by a single mom. Annie attended schools in Birmingham and graduated high school valedictorian of her class. Throughout high school Annie wanted to be a nurse because she thought that the only careers that were open to African American women at the time were nursing and teaching and she definitely did not want to teach so she settled on being a nurse but as she studied in high school she began thinking about becoming a pharmacist.

Georgia O 'Keeffe was a spectacular painter in the American Modernist Painting Movement who painted many scenes in nature and many landscapes of cities in New York and deserts in New Mexico. Although she did not consider herself as a part of any movement, she was part of The American Modernist Painting movement. She loved nature so she chose to paint different varieties of flowers. O’Keeffe is especially remembered for her paintings of flowers and bones. She was unique in the way she painted, and her paintings of nature continue to inspire people all around the world.

In an article that discusses possibly who and where Elizabeth Short was brutally murdered, the author states that “ there were multiple suspects but not pinning one to the case. A local resident found the mutilated body of a young woman in a vacant lot on south Norton Avenue near L.A’s Leimert Park” (Pruitt). “The Cask of Amontillado” is one of Edgar’s Allen Poe best short narratives with its vengeful characters and eerie and horror-filled atmosphere. The story was published in 1847, to later be known as a classical tale of revenge. Both Fortunato and Montresor were the protagonist and antagonist that kept his short narrative alive and suspenseful to the audience. What also kept his story full of life was what happened to between these characters that made this story revengeful. Though what is revenge?
I picked to write about Alvin Ailey because I feel like this is the decade and generation that his legacy died in because when it comes to dance no one thinks of Ailey as the founding father his dancing is a lost art.. Alvin Ailey was an amazing dancer and choreographer with his own unique dance style. His talent was referenced in Fresh Prince of Bel Air and a different world his style is what makes him stand out from other choreographers. Elsie de Wolfe, whom is still revered as America’s first decorator to this day. Eleanor McMillen Brown, a pioneer in the interior design field and founder of McMillen Inc.. Dorothy Draper, the first to “professionalize” the interior design industry by establishing the first interior design company in the United States. Elsie de Wolfe was an American decorator born in New York City. Besides being an interior decorator she was also a professional actress that performed various light comic and historical roles throughout the 1890s.
