Austria is located in central Europe. It has breath taking valleys, mountains, and lakes. Remarkable people live there, and it is rich in culture and traditions. They have a stable government that protects and guides them. It has more mountains than valleys, and it is a beautiful country. Austria is a land locked country that contains an abundance of oil, coal, lignite, timber, iron ore, copper, zinc, magesite, graphite, salt, and hydro power. It also has many natural hazards, which are landslides, avalanches, and earthquakes. This keeps life in Austria interesting. Austria has cold winters, and hot, temperate summers with occasional down pour. Because of the many mountains skiing is very common for the people of Austria. 73.6% of the people are members of the Roman Catholic Church. The countries population is 8,655,550 people. Many people must be catholic. The average height of an Austrian is 5 feet and 10 inches. Austrians speak German as their national language. German is a remarkable language.
