Imagine going without catching a fish for 85 days while being out on the ocean. The book The Old Man and The Sea is about an Old and a young boy who fish a lot and go without catching a fish for 85 days and don’t catch a single fish. The Puritans would approve the book The Old Man and The Sea because they respected authority, were hard workers and had self reliance.
The Puritans would approve the book The Old Man and The Sea because of their respect for authority. The Boy always had respect for the Old Man because he taught the Boy everything he knows about finishing on a boat. The Boy has absolute respect for the Old Man because he knows he is wise and he is older than the Boy so therefor he has authority over the Boy. He had seen the Old man struggling carrying stuff off the boat so he went down and he had helped him without being told to by another adult. The boy also went and had got food for himself and the Old Man but mostly for the Old Man so he wouldn’t starve and so he had something to eat for the night. The Old Man had not caught a fish for 85 days but, he hasn’t given up and still tries to catch a fish no matter what. He has believed that if he keeps fishing he will hit the jackpot and catch so many fish he wouldn't know what to do with them. The Boy still helped the old man fish after being told not to by his father. The Boy looked up to the Old Man because the Old Man had taught him everything he knows about fishing. So the Boy kind of wants to repay him for that and get his life back on track. He even caught more sardines just to make sure the old man would not starve. But the Boy also got more food for so he wouldn’t go being hungry and
