The 1920’s was a time of new modern age. The economy of automobiles was born, the entertainment world blossomed and women had discovered new found freedom. The 1920’s definitely deserved the name of the ‘roaring twenties’. Automobiles became an important consumer product.
The 1920s is an era full of changes in America, whether it be social or technological. This time period is also the time in which the automobile industry grew immensely, changing the lives of many citizens. Henry Ford’s impact on the world of transportation made it easy for every American family to be able to afford and own a car, causing the changes in daily lives to come rapidly. Ford’s making of his Model T car greatly changed America in terms of pollution, gas use, roads, industry modifications, and amounts of accidents.
1920s Automobiles Think of the automobiles around today, luxury cars with seat heaters, touch screen radios, sunroofs, and more, now imagine not having all the luxury and taking it all the way back to the very vehicle. 1920’s automobiles began with the Ford Model T, production of 10 iconic cars, and the legends of the “Big Three” automotive companies. The Model T was a four-cylinder, twenty-horsepower automobile with a two-speed planetary transmission. The Model T had a detachable cylinder head therefore making it easy to repair and a high frame in order to easily go over bumps in rural roads. This vehicle was made from vanadium steel making it a lighter and tougher car and with new ways of casting parts the price was easy to keep down.

The 1920’s was a period characterized by immersive and deep-rooted change coupled with a collective mindset shift amongst the people of the United States. Often referred to as the “Roaring Twenties” for the clear theme, it introduced a dynamic decade full of exuberance. There was a change of culture in the terms of the economic boom that surged consumerism, the technological advancements that would impact the public, and general social changes. With the aftermath of World War I, America hadn’t felt the economic destruction that occurred in Europe, which placed it favorably on the global stage of economics. America experienced an almost surprising economic boom, leading to a vision of prosperity.
The Wall Street Crash and the Great Depression of 1930 ensured that the hedonism and excess of flappers were abruptly and instantly snuffed out (Flappers and the Roaring 20s). It was also a time of new inventions. The most significant was the automobile. Youth were able to get out of the house away from the older generation.
The 1920s was the beginning of a new life for everyone in America, new things people never would have imagined to use in the past were now accessible. Years before,most people used railroads and wagons to get places. Not only that but, society was split between the north and south. Revolving labor, people usually farmed and owned property, but this would soon change. The 1920s came with unexpected turning points, new technological developments, social behavior change, and economic oppurtunities.
Along with women, young people in general were gaining more freedom in the 1920s. One factor to this was the increase in cars being bought. Cars were beginning to become safer and produced more. In the 1920’s the automobile rapidly started to increase in demand. In the early 20’s it wasn't possible for the average person to buy a car because it cost to much. In the 20’s Henry ford made the model T. The Model T was mass produced which made it cheaper. This lead to more people being able to buy cars. More cars being produced also meant more jobs being made.
America of the 1920s was that of a country that had emerged successfully and wealthy from the first biggest war the world had ever seen. Their economy had become rich making and selling war time goods, ands the country was booming. The factory’s that had been the backbone of the war effort became the backbone of the new commercial America. Instead of war goods such as guns and ammunition things such as cars and kitchen convenience appliances were produced. America modernized overnight, the appearance of jazz, electricity, film and a new independence for women as they were granted the right to vote.
Differences in cars The history of the electric car, in the 1800’s, there was not many ways to transport, the electric car was a big rise for the people in the 1800’s because it was hard for people to get around without cars.
