Their external growth could be directly contributed to horizontal-related integration with the acquisitions of Chief Auto Parts and Adap’s 112 Auto Place Stores. These acquisitions increased AutoZone’s footprint out of the South and Southeast into California and the Northeast.
In addition, internal growth has well positioned the company. The company operates around 4,650 stores in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. Currently, they are the largest retail auto part chain in the industry.
