Tenochtitlán achieved great wealth from conquered regions. It was a city of astounding beauty and impressive scale. Its pyramids were brightly painted blue and red for its gods and its palaces were blindingly white. Colorful floating gardens were everywhere. Busy markets displaying foods of all kinds and gold interweaved in clothes and headdresses were bartered.

As Cortes and his men travelled through Mesoamerica, they heard tales of a great city in the middle of a lake where the emperor ruled out of. He knew that if he were to be able to conquer the nation he would have to start there, so the Spanish set off towards Tenochtitlan encountering civilisation after civilisation so wonderful and different from the home they came from. One of these places was Tlaxcala, in the time that Cortes was there, he struck an alliance with the Tlaxcalan’s against the Aztecs and these warriors would eventually help him sway the tides and defeat the mighty Aztecs.
The Mask of Xiuhtecuhtli Within the history of the Aztec tribe of Mexico lies many beautiful, yet revealing artifacts. The Aztecs of Mexico began as nomads, constantly moving as resources moved. The Aztecs then drove themselves into Mexico, ending their nomadic way of life in the early thirteenth century. The Aztecs grew a very successful way of living in their new capital city, Tenochtilán. Just a hundred years later, the Aztecs grew to be an empire, expanding their ideas throughout much of Mexico, and with ideas came many diverse artifacts.

Although the nobility provided leadership, they weren't automatically put in government positions. In the leading city of Tenochtitlan was the Huey Tlatcani, The Emperor. Who was worshipped as a god, His rule was supported not only by the city council, but also the priests, judges, governors, and a host of other officials.
They were very brutal fighters they showed no mercy towards their foe’s they did whatever it took to win the war (Doc 1). They were land hungry people that wanted to expand their empire. Their capital was Tenochtitlan this is where they would take most of their prisoners to perform human sacrifice rituals towards idol’s that represented their gods. Most of the Aztec’s army was commoners. All men in aztec society were given some form of military training so that they could join the army in their warlike society so that they could fight for the empire or even in a flower war to provide for the human sacrifice supply(Doc 1).
The Mexica people of Tenochtitlan, situated on an island in Lake Texcoco and the inhabitants of Tenochtitlan’s two principal allied city-states, the Acolhaus of Texcoco and the Tepanecs of Tlacopan, formed the Aztec Triple Alliance which has also become known as the “Aztec Empire”. Henan Cortes, along with a large number of Nahuatl speaking indigenous allies, conquered Tenochtitlan and defeated the Aztec Triple Alliance under the leadership of Moctezuma II. In the series of events often referred to as “The Fall of the Aztec Empire”. Subsequently the Spanish founded the new settlement of Mexico City on the site of the ruined Aztec capital.
He was a great warrior and is remembered as the father of the Aztec Empire. Under his reign he solidified the alliance with Tlacopan and Texcoco, as well as major expansion took place and the city of Tenochtitlan started to become the dominant city of the triple alliance. Tenochtitlan was the driving force of the Aztec’s military and lead the conquests of new city-states. When city-states or territories were conquered the Aztec emperors did not rule over each one directly, local governments were formed for certain areas but still were forced to contribute certain amounts of tribute to the Triple Aliiance, most of them going to the city of Tenochtitlan. With over 500 city-states and five to six million people, 140,000 living in Tenochtitlan alone, this way of government worked very well for the empire.
It was in a rainforest and the cities were like big temples and pyramids and small houses. Their time periods and capitals were Pre, Golden, post and the capital was chichen itza. The Aztec’s location was located a bit above the Mayan empire. The Aztecs lived in a rain forest to. The city's were near water and were sometimes on water.

The Spanish retreated from Tenochtitlan, by fighting their way out, away from the angry mobs. The Spaniards took shelter with the Tlaxacan where they devised a plan to finally to conquer the Aztecs once and for all. The Spaniards, Tlaxacan, and other allied tribes all returned to Tenochtitlan with reinforcements and a siege. After eighty days of bloody battles Cuauhtémoc surrendered to the Spaniards, and that was the end of the Aztec
