Like most ancient civilizations, the Aztecs had a complex concept on how the world came to be, how gods set the Sun and Moon in the sky and were the purpose behind creation. What really divides the Aztec is the sheer amount of blood and death used. Blood made the Sun rise. Blood made the crops grow in the fields and without an endless amount of blood and sacrifices the Universe would grind to a halt and catastrophe would come to all humanity. The Aztec society was organised through quite a stable and strong hierarchy. Citizens were divided into three different groups the Nobles and the Commoners as well as the lowest hierarchy the Slaves. The husband would be responsible for supporting the family by farming and engaging in craftwork while the wife or women of the house would provide the family with clothing and meals. The meals would change depending on the season. Aztec daily life was filled with work mostly. Every member of the household, including children, helped in the household. Many also created goods that could be used by the empire in trade for goods that were highly valued. Each Capulli had one main leader out of the leadership group and this person would form another group, the city council. The city councils held a lot of power in the Aztec government. Each council would have a kind of leadership group within it. 4 members would be chosen who would lead, and out of those there would be the leader of the city. This leader would not only control the city but the surrounding area to. Although the nobility provided leadership, they weren't automatically put in government positions. In the leading city of Tenochtitlan was the Huey Tlatcani, The Emperor. Who was worshipped as a god, His rule was supported not only by the city council, but also the priests, judges, governors, and a host of other officials. The Aztecs even knew of the movements during the equinoxes, solstices, the movements of Mars, Venus, the Moon, and the constellation of the stars. They didn’t break the day into hours or minutes. The sundial was used massively in the Aztec times. As the Aztecs were quite a sophisticated and smart society they were able to realise that the earth would revolve around the sun and the shadows would move according to the time.
