George Herman Ruth, also known as Babe Ruth and The Great Bambino for his powerful effective swings, broke the record for the most home runs in the year of 1927 with the New York Yankees.

Born in 1985, Babe Ruth started his baseball career as a 19 year old in the Orioles but later bought by the Boston Red Sox. After being in the Boston Red Sox for a while he then moved to the New York Yankees where history was made. He broke the record for hitting the most home runs in a single season.

It was a challenge between The Great Bambino and Lou Gehrig to end the season with the most home runs. The challenge lasted until September of the year 1927 and both The Great Bambino and Lou Gehrig had 45 home runs in that season. Devastated, Lou had been …show more content…

The crowd cheered and The Great Bambino stood there as he watched his ball go out of the field. Lou finished the season with 47 home runs which was 13 less than The Great Bambino. Lou wasn’t disappointed that he didn’t beat Babe Ruth because he still had the second highest home runs that season.

He was referred to as a legend in the MLB. He was the first MLB player to hit the most home runs in a single season. Babe Ruth was a well-known athlete around the globe. The Great Bambino held the title for the most home runs in a single season. Babe Ruth was definitely a hero of his time.
