Babe Ruth By: Jack. Did you know that Babe’s parents pretty much left him when he was about 7? Babe had an interesting life from the start. He also had many hardships in his life. He also had many big achievements, and left a lasting legacy in the game of baseball. Basic information Babe had a hard childhood when he was young. George Herman Ruth was born on February 6, 1895 in Baltimore, Maryland. Where Babe was from was a dirty and loud part of town with 8 siblings. Babe had a lot of challenges before his big break, like when his dad just left him to go to the Mary’s industrial school for boys. But before this, one thing he loved to do was go stealing stuff like apples and other fruits with his friends. This is supported in the text “Who was Babe Ruth” by it saying, “He and his pals stole apples from fruit stands.” In this he was stealing from a fruit stand. This accomplishment was breaking the national league record for the most home runs in one season and he held it for 31 years. This is supported by in the text “Who Was Babe Ruth” it says “By season's end he hit 54 home runs! The national league leader had only hit 15.” So babe crushed this record. But it took Babe a long time for him to get this record, by tweaking his swing and a lot of practice. This was important to him because this led him to making the baseball hall of fame.
