Babe Ruth, The GOAT Of Baseball With baseball season just around the corner, it is the best time to bring up the G.O.A.T. of baseball. The greatest baseball player of all time was George Herman Ruth Jr. “The sultan of swat, the king of crash, the colossus of clout, BABE RUTH! The great bambino!” (Sandlot). He was a machine when it came to home runs. Babe helped his teams win the World Series, and he set many baseball records. It's no wonder he made it to the Hall of Fame and is a huge part of baseball history. Babe Ruth was born on February 6th, 1895, in Baltimore, Maryland. He got into a lot of trouble as a kid and was sent to a school for boys. During his time there, a teacher educated him and taught him the skills of baseball. Ruth lived there for 12 years. At the age of 19, he tried out for the minor league team, the Baltimore Orioles, and made it. Since he was the owner's favorite, he was teased and nicknamed “the babe” by his teammates. He became a valued player on the Boston Red Socks, and because he was worth so much the Red Socks traded him to the New York Yankees. This is what started what people called “The Curse of the Bambino.” While he helped the Yankees win 4 World Series, the Boston Red Socks didn't win a World Series until 84 years after Babe Ruth.
