Introduction The aim of this report is to present a concept and a theme for the client’s forthcoming Bar Mitzvah which will be held in a marquee at their home. Kertzer (1996) states that a Bar Mitzvah is: "the age at which a boy becomes religiously responsible for his acts; and by extension, the ceremony celebrating his achieving status, and generally held around his thirtnteeth birthday." Anderson (2005 states that “good food is almost always the core of good times” illustrating the importance of food and how it provides enjoyment. Also, guests will be at the venue for a long time, consequently leading to hunger. Moreover, the food needs to also reinforce and reflect the theme of the event (Israeli and Moroccan) whilst also putting emphasis on the Jewish religion. This means that the food which will be available will be a mix between the traditional Jewish dishes thus ensuring the guests will enjoy the catering, whilst also incorporating some different, Moroccan food to create a unique and original feel to the catering. Additionally, rather than a sit down dinner the guests will be provided with a buffet - this will encourage people to stand up and socialise, bringing family and friends together, rather than segregating people into tables, where they may feel
